My story:

I grew up in the heart of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania—a town where Sunday roasts brought families together, and the scent of slow-smoked BBQ floated through every backyard. In this close-knit community, food wasn’t just sustenance—it was a celebration.

As a little girl, you could find me perched on a stool in my grandfather’s bustling butcher shop, eyes wide with wonder as he transformed humble cuts into tender, flavorful masterpieces.
My father? He wasn’t just a butcher—he was a meat maestro. His hands, seasoned by years of trimming, seasoning, and smoking, showed me that every cut carries a story. By the time I was 12, I could debone a chicken, marinate a flank steak, and flip burgers that earned me a seat at the adult table.

Our family gatherings were centered around his smoke-kissed pulled pork, herb-crusted roasts, and his golden rule:

“Good food isn’t rushed. It’s loved into being.”

Why Meat?

For me, meat has always been more than just protein—it’s a love language.
My father’s shop wasn’t just a business; it was a meeting place for farmers, families, and food lovers, where stories and sausage samples were exchanged with equal joy.
Those early lessons shaped my philosophy:

  • Respect the ingredient – From pasture to plate, every step matters.

  • Simplicity shines – A few bold spices can do more than a dozen complicated ones.

  • Cooking connects – A perfectly grilled steak or slow-simmered stew can turn strangers into lifelong friends.

After training at [insert experience or culinary background], I knew my purpose was to blend grandpa’s old-school wisdom with modern, approachable recipes for today’s home cook.
This blog, Dishinstyle, is my way of honoring that legacy—helping you create meals that bring people together and memories that last well beyond the last bite.
